Traditional Women’s Music
MABEKEDE is a traditional Music played by ancestral women in the 70s to the late 80s. it was a unique play that has contributed greatly to preserve the language and tradition within the Limba people in Sierra Leone.
Due to the eleven years revolutionary war, it affects the practice which makes it to become endangered.
As community elders choose to revitalize other traditional knowledge which are also in the pipeline to missing, it happens to be an opportunity to resume the women’s music which was also used during those practices.
