The video tells the story of a man from a remote Limba village in Sierra Leone, recalling his mother’s teachings about Nthɔngbakile, (Sacred forest) their sacred forest tied to language, culture, and ancestral spirits. He relives a childhood nightmare during the war, the loss of chimpanzees, and the destruction of the forest. Returning in memory, he walks through the places of ceremonies, family moments, and the sound of their language. Now, he dedicates his life to reconnecting his people with their traditions. Though much has been lost, he finds beauty in what remains and carries his ancestors’ love in every step.
