Īnanga spawning habitat restoration in the rohe of Te Roroa

This project will keep track of the establishment and progress of freshwater projects connected to the Northland Īnanga Spawning Habitat Restoration Project (NĪSHRP) within the rohe of Te Roroa.

Te Roroa kaimahi are active across environmental projects occurring within our traditional biocultural landscapes. Projects of collaboration regarding our ancestral lands and waterways are important in order to build capacity and capability, share and transfer scientific or traditional knowledge, and establishing positive, proactive pathways and outcomes for our natural landscapes.

As stated in the NĪSHRP Local Contexts project, data will be mapped and used to prioritize habitat restoration that builds resiliency for the effects brought on by climate change and to motivate and implement actions that will improve water quality. It is the expectation that data collected from within the rohe of Te Roroa which is generated to support this project is shared with Te Roroa in the form of raw geospatial files and all accompanying metadata and is also incorporated into the NĪSHRP geospatial platform with Te Roroa TK and BC labels displayed where appropriate.
