Description

The Kichwa Indigenous People of Sarayaku, Local Context, and MOTH are eager to write a paper reflecting on the process of recognizing Indigenous sovereignty and authority over information, data, and its uses within the Sarayaku territory. Drawing on the collective process of the SACI project, this paper aims to share the experience with other Indigenous organizations and research institutions, highlighting how to build a collective process that centers Indigenous rights.

The Kichwa Indigenous People of Sarayaku, their protectors, nature, and territory are willing to collaborate with external actors in projects or activities related to this information. Such an association reflects a way of relating and the responsibilities towards fungi, the collections, and scientific data associated with them. All this information comes from the ancestral knowledge of the Kichwa Indigenous People of Sarayaku, their protective beings, nature, and territory. The Kichwa Indigenous People of Sarayaku, their protective beings, nature, and territory determine that all relationships that are established with the mushrooms and their territory must be respectful of all beings that inhabit the Living Forest.
